Hamas: We want peace. We want the end of the "blockade." We want Israel to get out of our country.
Egypt: Thank you, Hamas. So, Israel, what do you want?
Israel: We want Hamas to stop attacking our civilians. We are building a wall to keep them out and stop their attacks by land. Now we have attacks upon us by air from Gaza, a place that the Palestinians all agreed would stay demilitarized when we turned it over to them for self determination.
Egypt: Thank you, Israel. So Hamas, Israel wants you to stop attacking their country. Will you?
Hamas: We attack Israel to protest the way they treat us. We are isolated from the world. We want access to their country. We need money for our people. They have to give us something for us to stop the violence.
Israel: We don't want you in our country at all. You attack us when you come in. So we will not let you in. Sorry, but this is all your fault. You have access to the world through Egypt, not us. Stop spending over $1 Billion USD on tunnels and rockets and you will have money for your people. We will not help you attack us.
Hamas: Then we will continue to fire rockets at your civilians, Israeli Arab and Jew alike, old and young, and it will be all your fault, as usual. We have no choice but to attack you.
Israel: Then we will fire tank shells and mortars into your Hamas tunnels and kill innocent children playing on the beach, by accident of course. That is all your fault, as usual.
Hamas: Then we will lob Iranian missiles at you, dig more tunnels to attack you, and send in many suicide bombers to continue the killing of your innocent citizens. You deserve this response. If we suffer, then you must also suffer.
Israel: Why do you attack Israel when Egypt is the country to recently close its border to Gaza?
Egypt: Now, now, children, why can't we all just learn to get along? Don't drag us into your ongoing conflict. Israel, what do you hope to gain by attacking Hamas?
Israel: It's simple. To cripple Hamas' offensive military weapons and make our people safe. To let all our enemies know there is a terrible price to be paid for anyone attacking Israel.
Egypt: Thank you. So, Hamas, what do you hope to accomplish by attacking Israel?
Hamas: It's complicated. We want open borders. We want to hurt them, to let them know we are powerful and we can kill them. To make them afraid. We want attention for our suffering. Even if Israel kills our children, it is worth it to fight the oppressive infidels. We want people to think Israel is evil and we are just innocent victims. To prove they are the bullies in the world court of opinion, even if we attack first and refuse all ceasefire proposals.
Egypt: But, Hamas, don't you want peace? How will that lead to peace?
Hamas: When we finally destroy the infidel state of Israel, then, and only then, will we have peace. Peace cannot be possible in a world filled with infidels, especially Jews in Jerusalem, what they call the land of Judea, of all things. The infidels must be killed. That is the way of Allah, and we are simply instruments of his divine will. Death to ALL infidels!
Egypt: Thank you for your candor. Looks like you continue to choose violence over peace, as you have for over a millennia.
